A 29-year-old unemployed Ecuadorian man with a prior criminal record has been arrested on murder charges in Milan’s Corvetto district. The suspect allegedly stabbed and killed his 32-year-old brother-in-law, also Ecuadorian, following a family argument last night.
According to Italian military police (Carabinieri) investigators, the altercation involved the suspect, his sister, and her husband. During the dispute, the 29-year-old reportedly attacked his brother-in-law with a kitchen knife. The victim, suffering multiple stab wounds, was treated by emergency paramedics at the scene and transported code red to Niguarda Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
Police indicate the murder may be linked to alleged mistreatment of the suspect’s sister by her husband. Officers from the Milan Vigentino Carabinieri station and the Radio Mobile Unit responded to Piazzale Ferrara, where they recovered the murder weapon. Surveillance camera footage aided in identifying the alleged perpetrator, who was arrested approximately 200 meters from the stabbing site.
An autopsy has been ordered on the victim. The suspect is currently held in San Vittore Prison.
