Three of four minors involved in the hit-and-run killing of 11-year-old Cecilia De Astis with a stolen car last Monday in Via Saponaro, southern Milan, have been removed from their families and placed in secure facilities. The Milan Local Police executed the emergency measure between Wednesday evening and early Thursday, while searches continue for the fourth minor, currently untraceable. Authorities stated the urgent action was necessary because the families “left their residences without communicating their intentions, despite initial cooperation with investigators.”
All three minors will be housed in protected community facilities with assistance from Milan’s municipal emergency child services.
An 11-year-old girl was intercepted with help from Piedmont’s Traffic Police on the Turin-Savona motorway near the Fossano tollbooth (Cuneo province), heading toward Ventimiglia and France. Two brothers—including the 13-year-old driver—were apprehended in an agricultural area in Beinasco, Turin.
Milan Local Police confirmed the removals were coordinated with the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, which had “urgently filed protective appeals for the minors and awaited necessary rulings from the Court.”
