Como Coach Cesc Fàbregas Targets Strong Season Start Ahead of Cup Clash

Como manager Cesc Fàbregas expressed high confidence in his squad ahead of their Coppa Italia opener against Südtirol, marking the beginning of Como’s 2025/2026 campaign. “The season is starting, and we’re highly motivated after the team’s strong work in preseason training. With this squad, our objective is to go as far as possible,” Fàbregas stated.

He emphasized tactical flexibility, noting: “While we have our football philosophy, every player must be ready for multiple roles. Modern football isn’t about rigid formations—it depends on the phase of play. Our friendly against Barcelona, regardless of the result, was a crucial mental test.”

With the transfer window closing in two weeks, Fàbregas highlighted Como’s key signing: “Álvaro Morata is an incredible player with great heart—he’ll bring immense value.” He confirmed an incoming goalkeeper is “certain,” with targets under evaluation. Regarding Patrick Cutrone’s situation, he remarked: “The market is open to all. Those unwilling to stay will leave.”

Fàbregas also addressed Ivan Azón’s loan move to Ipswich: “I wanted to keep him, but he chose to finalize the transfer this morning.” Concluding on the club’s vision, he affirmed: “We’re building a team and culture here—a 4-5 year project. After just 18 months, we aim to improve on last season and continue growing.”
