Autopsy Confirms Strangulation in Venier Case

An autopsy conducted this morning on Alessandro Venier’s body confirmed strangulation as the cause of death, according to investigative sources cited by ANSA. Post-mortem analyses revealed dismemberment—lower limbs severed from the abdomen, followed by separation of the abdomen from the chest and head—using an unidentified tool. Investigators are examining a knife mentioned by the victim’s mother, though it is deemed incapable of cutting femoral bones. A hacksaw seized from a garage may have been used for that purpose.

Quicklime covering the body for five days in a storage bin did not impede today’s autopsy but obstructed yesterday’s CT scan. The examination, led by Francesca Sinopoli (appointed by Udine’s Public Prosecutor’s Office) and observed by multiple court-appointed experts, nearly faced postponement due to delayed thawing of the remains. Medical staff waited for the body to be prepared before commencing the procedure.
