Teen Dies After Suicide Attempt in Treviso Juvenile Prison

A 17-year-old detainee has died at Treviso Hospital after attempting suicide in a juvenile prison cell. The incident occurred during the night between last Sunday and Monday when the youth hanged himself using his jeans. Prison officers intervened rapidly, enabling the facility’s doctor to resuscitate him before emergency transfer. Despite these efforts, the teenager arrived at the hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries. Prior to the incident, the minor had been placed in the Treviso prison’s initial reception center under prosecutor’s orders. His arrest occurred hours earlier in Vicenza, where he was caught committing robbery and vandalism.
