A fatal road accident occurred just after 11 a.m. today along Provincial Road 28 in Valdisotto, Alta Valtellina, when a motorist struck and killed a cyclist. The driver immediately stopped to alert emergency responders. Despite rapid intervention by two Valtellina Soccorso ambulances, the Sondrio air ambulance, and a medical response vehicle, resuscitation efforts proved unsuccessful. The 40-year-old cycling enthusiast died at the scene. Carabinieri from Bormio station are investigating the collision dynamics, confirming the impact’s fatal nature.
