Major Delays Persist on A1 Milan-Naples Highway After LPG Tanker Fire

Significant traffic queues continue on the A1 Milan-Naples autostrada following the closure of the stretch between Orte and the junction with the Rome North Bypass (Diramazione Roma Nord) towards the capital. The closure, necessary to remove an LPG tanker that caught fire yesterday afternoon and has now been extinguished near kilometer marker 525, remains in effect.

As of 7 AM, a 10-kilometer backup was reported on the stretch between Attigliano and Orte heading towards Rome, near the mandatory exit at Orte.

Cleanup operations are currently underway at the scene. Following the completion of transferring the liquid LPG, crews are securing the heavy vehicle and will subsequently clean the roadway.

Further closures are in place on the A1 Milan-Naples between the Rome North Bypass junction and Ponzano Romano. The Rome North Bypass itself is also closed between Fiano Romano and its junction with the A1 Milan-Naples towards Florence. Additional queues are forming at the mandatory exit in Fiano Romano.

Alternative routes are advised:

**To Rome or Naples (after Orte exit):** Take State Road SS675 towards Viterbo, then State Road SS2 (Via Cassia) towards Rome. Continue onto the GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare) to rejoin the A1 Milan-Naples.

**To Florence (from A1 Milan-Naples):** Take the Rome South Bypass (Diramazione Roma Sud), proceed onto the GRA, then take SS2 Via Cassia towards Viterbo and SS675 towards Orte to rejoin the A1 at Orte.

**To Florence (from Rome North Bypass):** After the mandatory exit at Fiano Romano, use local roads to rejoin the A1 at Orte.

**Long-distance to Rome:** From the north, take the A11 Florence-Pisa Nord near Florence Nord, continue onto the A12 Genoa-Livorno, then take State Road SS1 (Via Aurelia) towards Rome. Connect to the A12 Rome-Civitavecchia and proceed onto the GRA towards the A1 Milan-Naples.
