Report: Pietralata Stadium Site Vegetation Lacks Ecological Value

The green areas within Rome’s Pietralata district, designated for AS Roma’s new stadium, consist of “invasive vegetation with low naturalistic value,” according to an agronomic report. Authored by Mauro Uniformi, national president of the Order of Agronomists and Foresters, the study assessed the wooded zones in the area.

Massimiliano Umberti, president of Rome’s IV Municipio, confirmed the city’s Environmental Protection Department has acquired the findings. “Another pantomime ends,” stated Umberti. “The analysis certifies this is invasive flora from abandoned farmlands and orchards, ecologically insignificant and located in an already degraded, urbanized context.”

The report, Umberti added, confirms the areas “can be transformed and offset with higher-quality tree plantings to establish a more coherent, sustainable green space.” He emphasized, “Enough manipulation: facts speak clearly when presented. We proceed.”
