A 26-year-old man from Bracciano, already known to police, has been arrested by Carabinieri from the Manziana station and the Bracciano Company’s Operational Unit. He is strongly suspected of robbery and sexual assault against an 80-year-old woman.
The arrest occurred on August 3rd. Investigators gathered substantial evidence indicating that on the previous night, the suspect allegedly broke into the elderly woman’s home, where she lives alone. Threatening her with a knife, he reportedly demanded money and gold. After her initial refusal due to lack of funds, the 26-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting her. He then allegedly forced her to accompany him to a local ATM to withdraw 500 euros. The suspect subsequently fled on foot, threatening to kill the victim if she reported the crime to authorities.
Carabinieri meticulously reconstructed the sequence of events using area CCTV footage and evidence collected from the victim’s apartment. This led them to identify the suspect, who was already under house arrest on separate charges. The Court of Civitavecchia has validated the arrest and ordered the man to be held in prison.
