A 4-year-old Romanian boy vacationing with his family in Sardinia died Monday morning at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, following a heatstroke incident. The child had been transferred to the Roman facility after initial emergency care at Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari. According to investigations by the Carabinieri in Alghero, the tragedy unfolded on the afternoon of August 6 when the boy slipped out of his family’s rental home in Olmedo, northwest Sardinia, while his parents rested. Discovering his absence, the parents found him unconscious inside their car, which was parked under intense sunlight.
