Kremlin Eyes Russian Soil for Next Putin-Trump Summit After Alaska Meeting

The Kremlin anticipates that the next meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will take place on Russian territory following their upcoming summit in Alaska. Russian Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov stated this while commenting on the choice of Alaska for the August 15th meeting, as reported by the Interfax news agency.

“Looking ahead, we should aim to ensure the next meeting of the presidents takes place on Russian soil. The corresponding invitation has already been extended to the US President,” said Ushakov, the Kremlin spokesman.

Regarding the selection of Alaska for the initial summit, Ushakov remarked that “Russia and the United States are neighbors, sharing a border. It seems entirely logical that our delegation simply crosses the Bering Strait and that such an important and anticipated summit of the two countries’ leaders is held in Alaska.”
