Zelensky Vows No Territorial Concessions to Russia as Putin Truce Proposal Emerges

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared on Telegram that “Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier,” asserting that Ukrainians defend what is theirs and that Russia will receive no reward for its actions. He emphasized that the answer to Ukraine’s territorial issues is already enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution.

This statement follows reports by the Wall Street Journal suggesting Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a ceasefire proposal to the Trump administration. The alleged proposal reportedly demands significant territorial concessions from Kyiv and seeks global recognition of Russia’s claims.

Zelensky stressed Ukraine’s readiness to make concrete decisions for peace but warned against any resolution made without Ukraine. “Any decision against us, any decision that excludes Ukraine, is simultaneously a decision against peace and will lead nowhere,” he stated. “These are dead decisions; they will never work. We all need a real, living peace that people respect.”

His remarks came after former US President Donald Trump announced plans to meet with Putin in Alaska on August 15, an encounter not including the Ukrainian head of state.
