The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Paola has revoked a nationwide seizure order for a commercial product initially investigated as the potential source of botulinum toxin contamination. The order, issued earlier today, was lifted after authorities determined the botulism poisonings in the Cosenza area likely stemmed not from the product itself, but from how it was administered. This decision followed preliminary examinations by the local health authority (ASP) on all foods from a Diamante food truck patronized by the affected individuals. Prosecutors now suspect improper handling or preparation at the point of service caused the contamination.
