European equities showed a fragmented performance at the opening bell on the day new US tariffs targeting the European Union came into force. Paris edged higher with the CAC-40 gaining 0.21% to 7,651 points. Frankfurt dipped slightly as the DAX fell 0.06% to 23,910 points, coinciding with a steeper-than-expected 1.9% decline in German industrial production for June. London’s FTSE 100 also retreated, dropping 0.27% to 9,139 points.
