Worker Hospitalized After 20-Foot Fall at Sardinia Industrial Site

A 40-year-old worker is hospitalized in the orthopedics department of Olbia’s Giovanni Paolo II Hospital after falling six meters (20 feet) from a warehouse roof in Siniscola’s industrial zone. The worker, employed by a Nuoro-based company, was installing photovoltaic panels when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost his balance and fell.

Colleagues immediately raised the alarm and provided first aid. Police from the Siniscola station, emergency medical services (118), and specialists from the Spresal (Prevention and Safety Service in the Workplace) responded to the scene. The injured man was stabilized and airlifted to the hospital by helicopter. Doctors have not disclosed his prognosis.

Fulvia Murru, General Secretary of UIL Sardegna, commented on the incident, stating: “This is the second serious workplace accident in Sardinia within a few days. UIL Sardegna expresses deep concern and solidarity with the injured worker and his family, but we can no longer accept the continuous underestimation of workplace safety.” Murru emphasized, “We cannot become accustomed to reading daily ‘war bulletins’ about work. Every accident represents a failure of the safety system and an urgent call to responsibility for companies, institutions, and oversight bodies. Prevention measures and training must be central to public and business action. It is unacceptable to risk one’s life to earn a living.”
