Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Orders House Arrest for Ex-President Bolsonaro

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has imposed house arrest on former President Jair Bolsonaro, ruling that Bolsonaro violated court-imposed precautionary measures. In his detention order, Moraes stated: “By acting unlawfully, defendant Jair Bolsonaro addressed protesters gathered at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana beach, deliberately and knowingly producing prefabricated material to incite his supporters to maintain pressure on the Supreme Court and obstruct justice. This misconduct culminated in his phone conversation with his son Flávio being published on Instagram.”
