The League party has issued a statement declaring that the European Court of Justice’s decision “confirms red-robed judges’ assault on our borders, both in Italy and abroad.” The right-wing party vowed, “We will never surrender,” announcing plans for Patriots to table a no-confidence motion against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen this autumn. The League accused von der Leyen of failing to protect “the Old Continent, and Italy in particular,” citing not only immigration but “too many dossiers,” including what it called the “misguided Green Deal.” The party claims the environmental policy “harms families and businesses while failing to help the environment.”
