A 67-year-old man has been arrested in Gardone Val Trompia, in the province of Brescia, on charges of stalking his ex-wife. According to a police reconstruction, the two encountered each other by chance in the town, which led to an argument that escalated into death threats. The man allegedly brandished a hammer taken from his car. The frightened woman managed to take refuge in a local Carabinieri barracks, where she reported that her ex-husband was pursuing her. Officers intervened immediately, apprehending the man a short distance away. A search of his vehicle uncovered the hammer and a switchblade knife. The suspect, who was already known to law enforcement, was arrested and placed under house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet.
