A 55-year-old farmer from Valdobbiadene, Treviso province, died after being crushed by his tractor while working in his vineyard in Guia di Valdobbiadene. The incident is believed to have occurred two days prior to discovery.
The victim’s sister discovered the body on Saturday after losing contact with him. Carabinieri, workplace safety inspectors (Spisal), and the Treviso Prealps Mountain Rescue team responded to the scene overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate the farmer fell approximately 10 meters down a slope among vine rows, becoming trapped beneath the heavy machinery. Medical personnel from Treviso’s emergency helicopter service confirmed his death at the scene. Firefighters subsequently recovered the body.
Rescuers carried the deceased on a stretcher for about 80 meters to the nearest road, where the body was transferred to a mortuary vehicle.
