Superman Soars to Top of Italian Box Office in Second Weekend

James Gunn’s “Superman,” starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, claimed the top spot at the Italian box office during its second weekend. The film grossed just over €1 million (€1,004,397), pushing its cumulative total to €3,695,836. This performance dethroned “Jurassic World: Renascence” (the seventh installment in the franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey), which earned €863,581 for a total nearing €8.7 million (€8,686,100) after surpassing one million admissions. The week’s major new release, the slasher film “So cosa hai fatto,” debuted in third place with a modest €264,000 (€326,000 including previews) from 33,000 admissions (41,000 with previews). Joseph Kosinski’s Formula 1 action film “F1,” starring Brad Pitt, held steady with €253,455 but slipped to fourth place. Its total now nears €5 million (€4,975,430). “Dragon Trainer” rounded out the top five with €172,631, reaching a six-week total of €8.6 million.

“Elio” placed sixth, earning €122,594 for a cumulative €2.3 million (€2,331,832). The enduring hit “Lilo & Stitch” followed in seventh, adding €104,545 over the weekend to reach a substantial €22 million (€21,952,217) after nine weeks.

The weekend’s second debut, Michela Andreozzi’s “Unicorni,” entered the chart in eighth place with €61,000 from 9,600 admissions. Finnish film “100 Litri di Birra” (Teemu Nikki) debuted in ninth with €40,000 from 6,307 admissions.

Paolo Genovese’s “Follemente” re-entered the top ten, closing the weekend in tenth place with €24,000. It boasted the fourth-highest per-screen average (€1,085 across 22 screens). Its total now stands at €17.7 million (€17,738,710) from 2.4 million admissions over 22 weeks.

Overall, the weekend box office generated €3,449,017 from 450,836 admissions. This represents a 31.1% decrease compared to the previous weekend but a 23% increase compared to the same weekend in 2024.
