Stepfather’s Suicide Follows Stepson’s Fatal Police Chase in Treviso Province

Tragedy has struck the province of Treviso. The 43-year-old partner of the mother of a young man killed last week was found dead in his home in Oderzo. Police believe the man took his own life just hours after learning of the death of his stepson, 23-year-old Kevin Anghele from Pordenone, for reasons that can only be surmised as he reportedly left no note.

Anghele died in a car crash on the outskirts of Motta di Livenza between Monday and Tuesday night. His vehicle went off the road after he evaded a Carabinieri roadblock. Reports indicate Anghele accelerated at high speed to escape the area, likely anticipating the arrival of additional patrols. Shortly afterwards, he lost control; the car flipped multiple times, struck a roadside tree, and came to rest destroyed in the middle of the road.

Despite immediate transport to Oderzo hospital, doctors could not save him. At the crash scene, police recovered several bricks of hashish, other narcotics, and drug packaging material, believed to have been inside the vehicle and the probable motive for his flight. Anghele was known to police for prior offences, including a recent drink-driving incident that resulted in his license being revoked. A subsequent search of his Pordenone apartment, shared with a 40-year-old acquaintance, reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting possible drug dealing. Anghele had moved to Pordenone after leaving the home he shared with his mother and stepfather, a Bosnian national; relations between the stepfather and stepson were reportedly strained.

As investigators processed the crash scene, the second tragedy unfolded in Oderzo. The stepfather was found dead in the home by his partner – the mother of the young man killed hours earlier – upon her return. Authorities believe he committed suicide.
