Portugal to Consult Leaders Ahead of Potential UN Recognition of Palestine State

The Portuguese government announced it will consult the country’s president and parliament regarding the potential recognition of a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September. Prime Minister Luís Montenegro’s office stated today that Portugal is “weighing recognition of the Palestinian state, as part of a process that could conclude during the high-level week of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York next September.”
