Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports that ongoing monsoon rains have killed nearly 300 people and injured 700 nationwide since late June. Within the last 24 hours alone, at least 6 fatalities and 2 injuries occurred.
According to NDMA data covering June 26 to July 31, torrential rains triggered flash floods, roof collapses, and accidental electrocutions, resulting in a total of 295 deaths and 700 injuries. Tragically, 138 children were among the deceased, while 236 children were injured.
Punjab province bore the brunt of the devastation with 162 deaths and 558 injuries. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa followed with 66 dead and 81 injured, while Sindh province recorded 28 fatalities and 40 injuries.
The severe weather damaged at least 1,600 homes, completely destroying 542 dwellings. Additionally, 376 livestock deaths were reported. Authorities warned of further expected rainfall in the coming days and urged residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.
