Valentina Greco, the 42-year-old Sardinian woman missing in Tunisia for ten days before being found in her Sidi Bou Said home by gendarmes, is being discharged from a Tunis hospital. Her brother Alessio Greco, who arrived in the North African country yesterday, has settled her medical bills. The siblings are expected to take the first available flight back to Italy shortly.
Tunisian authorities have already questioned Greco and returned her mobile phone and computer, according to lawyer Gianfranco Piscitelli. Piscitelli, representing the Penelope Association which has been in contact with the Greco family, provided the update to ANSA.
Consequently, Greco’s mother, Roberta Murru, a newsstand operator from Cagliari, will likely cancel her planned trip to Tunisia and instead await her children’s return in Sardinia.
Tunisian authorities consider the case closed. Greco reportedly told her mother—and likely reiterated to investigators—that she fainted due to illness and fell inside a wardrobe. She was discovered at home on Saturday evening before being transferred to the hospital for initial examinations.
