An investigation into Milan’s urban planning practices has uncovered chat records revealing a purported “strategy” tied to the Porte Metropolitane (Metropolitan Gates) projects. The communications, between former city planning assessor Giancarlo Tancredi and Giuseppe Marinoni, the then-president of the now-dissolved Landscape Commission, indicate the plan involved “reloading a significant quota” of social housing (ERS) interventions to “justify the public interest.” In a message dated July 27, 2024, Marinoni informs Tancredi of meeting ex-housing assessor Guido Bardelli, stating: “I spoke with him about the strategy for Porte Metropolitane and the possibility of reloading a good quota of ERS. He seemed very favourable to me.”
