Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala stated that the City Council must decide on the sale of the San Siro stadium to Inter and Milan by the end of September to meet a binding deadline set by heritage authorities. “We must always respect the November 10th deadline, so time is still available,” Sala explained, outlining the revised timeline. “While we would have preferred starting the council debate in July, it’s currently unwise. We will resume in September.” He confirmed the process will proceed: “Once everything is prepared, we will advance with a cabinet resolution and then bring it to the Council for decision.”
Concurrently, urban planning responsibilities in Milan have been temporarily assigned to Deputy Mayor Anna Scavuzzo until a permanent appointment is made. “I don’t want to rush a decision that could lead to misjudgments,” Sala commented. “I need time to consider, and in the interim, I am assigning the duties – I stress temporarily – to the deputy mayor, as someone must handle them.”
In a separate development, architect Federico Pella, for whom the Milan prosecutor’s office requested arrest in an urban planning investigation, has resigned from all social and operational positions at the engineering firm J+S. J+S stated it is “completely unrelated to the facts under investigation” and affirmed the “absolute correctness” of its operations, “consistently based on respect for the law.” Defended by Professor Luca Lupària Donati, the company has “strengthened the competencies and powers of its internal Supervisory Body,” aligning with a management model focused on integrity and maximum transparency. J+S, expressing “full confidence in the Judicial Authorities for a swift resolution,” pledged to “continue providing maximum cooperation to the investigating authorities,” firmly believing its integrity and correct conduct will be proven during proceedings.
