An Indian national was struck and killed while cycling around 5:30 a.m. this morning on Migliara 53 near Via dei Fossi in Sabaudia, Latina province. The laborer, en route to work at dawn, died instantly despite resuscitation attempts by emergency medical personnel dispatched via the 118 service.
Carabinieri from the Sabaudia station are investigating the incident’s dynamics through forensic examination.
The CGIL unions of Rome, Lazio, and Frosinone Latina declared: “This crisis demands action—both through workplace reforms reducing workers’ physical/psychological strain and through major investments in road safety. Upcoming health and safety protocols with the Latina Prefecture must address safety on routes used by laborers.”
Lazio Regional Councilor and Welfare Head for Azione party, Alessio D’Amato, stated: “A commission must investigate illegal labor practices and undeclared work to enact timely solutions. My proposed regional law on these issues and the ‘Lazio Strade Sicure’ road safety plan remain shelved in government drawers while deaths continue.”
