French Prosecutors Reopen Probe into Bertrand Cantat’s Role in Ex-Wife’s Death Following Netflix Documentary

Bordeaux prosecutors have reopened an investigation into “potential intentional violent acts” by singer Bertrand Cantat prior to the death of his ex-wife, Krisztina Rady, who was found hanged in her home on January 10, 2010. The decision follows Netflix’s release of “Le cas Cantat” (The Cantat Case), a three-episode documentary about the Noir Désir frontman. Cantat was previously convicted of murdering actress Marie Trintignant in 2003. Prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul confirmed the probe, stating the documentary contains “numerous claims and testimonies” absent from four prior case files on Rady’s death—all previously closed by French authorities.
