Tokyo jumped 1.8% as financial stocks surged alongside the yen on bets for interest rate hikes post-U.S. tariff accord. Hong Kong gained 0.3%, Shanghai rose 0.4%, Shenzhen advanced 0.7%, and Seoul added 0.1%, while Sydney dipped 0.3%.
European futures rallied strongly, with the Euro Stoxx 50 up 1.3% on reports of progress toward a U.S. deal to cap tariffs at 15%. Traders await today’s ECB meeting, expected to halt rate cuts. Wall Street futures also rose, led by a 0.3% Nasdaq gain after Alphabet’s earnings beat.
The euro-dollar pair held steady at 1.1769, while oil prices increased 0.7% with WTI crude at $65.74 per barrel.
