Two Irish tourists were assaulted by a group of North African youths in Palermo’s Vucciria market district. According to investigators, the attack occurred late at night in the alleys near Piazza Caracciolo. The victims, reportedly intoxicated, were targeted individually and robbed of cash, documents, and mobile phones. Multiple witnesses alerted authorities and assisted one injured tourist found by police in a confused state. The second victim—discovered four hours later in an alley between Piazza Caracciolo and Piazza Garraffello—suffered a broken jaw. This marks the tenth assault or robbery targeting tourists in Palermo’s historic center within the past month.
