Italy’s Council of State has annulled the ruling by the Emilia-Romagna Regional Administrative Court (TAR) that rejected an appeal by two taxi drivers against Bologna’s 30 km/h speed limit. The administrative court must now re-examine the merits of the case.
Mobility Councillor Michele Campaniello, announcing the decision, stated: “We reserve the right to read the full ruling, but we will calmly face this new stage at the TAR. For trailblazing measures like this, facing judicial steps is a natural process.” Campaniello added, “We believe it is now established that the ’30 city’ model does not inherently cause traffic delays or inconvenience. On the contrary, it benefits safety and the lives of people on the streets. We are confident we can bring these elements to the TAR’s attention.”
