Italy’s cinema sector witnessed robust growth during the January-May 2025 period, with theater admissions climbing 8.8% year-on-year to 30.9 million. Box office revenue surged 10.6% to €228.4 million, according to preliminary data from the 2024 Siae Report presented in Rome. The number of film screenings also edged up 0.8%.
In live theater, attendance rose 3.9% to 15.4 million patrons despite a marginal 0.2% contraction in events staged. Spending soared 11.5% to €324.9 million.
Concert performances increased by 0.9%, drawing 7.3 million attendees (+1.6%) and generating €256.5 million in revenue—a 12.3% year-on-year gain.
