EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic will fly to Washington this afternoon for renewed tariff negotiations with U.S. counterparts, European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill confirmed. The talks follow Sefcovic’s phone discussions on Monday and Tuesday with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
Separately, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced during a Pittsburgh event that tariffs on imported pharmaceuticals will likely take effect August 1, with duties on semiconductors potentially following shortly afterward. Trump’s remarks were reported by Bloomberg.
