Italian Climber Rescued from Mont Blanc’s Dent du Géant After Hanging Stranded

Alpine rescue teams have successfully saved an Italian climber who was left hanging in mid-air on the face of the Dent du Géant in the Mont Blanc massif. Guides from the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue and the Financial Police scaled the Normal Route to reach the stranded man. They then lowered him to the base of the rock face and proceeded on foot to Punta Helbronner. From there, descent to the valley was possible via the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car. Bad weather prevented the use of a helicopter. The rescued climber is reported to be in good health, as is his climbing partner who was not involved in the incident.
