** Posters bearing the slogans “Occupy a house? We’ll throw you out in 24 hours” and “Thanks to the League, Security Decree” have appeared in Rome’s San Lorenzo district, reports the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC). The PRC condemned the League party posters, stating they feature “a digital image generated by artificial intelligence, constructed to evoke racist stereotypes and criminalize the poor and migrants.” The image depicts a bearded youth, a person of color, and a woman holding a duffel bag exiting a building, with a police officer and paramilitary carabiniere shown from behind.
Giovanni Barbera, National Directorate member and Rome co-Secretary of PRC, stated: “The League reverts to its trademark tactics: spreading fear, hatred, and lies. They’ve plastered this Roman neighborhood with shameful posters.” He added: “The League pretends to defend ‘property owners,’ but the truth is their Security Decree targets not private homes, but abandoned buildings left derelict for years—now reclaimed by those with nothing. Local groups like ‘Scomodo’ have also publicly denounced these posters, exposing their artificial, manufactured nature—a media stunt detached from reality that fuels intolerance and war among the poor.”
Barbera further criticized: “They boast about decreeing up to 7 years’ jail for squatters, yet remain silent about their control of the Infrastructure Ministry, responsible for housing policy. To date, that ministry has produced not a single concrete measure to address the housing emergency.”
