Milan Court Delays Santanchè Accounting Fraud Trial to September

Judges in Milan’s second criminal court have postponed until September 16 the trial of Minister Daniela Santanchè and others accused of false accounting. The adjournment allows the court two months to rule on a defense motion seeking to exclude civil parties—minority shareholders of Visibilia—from proceedings. Prosecutors Marina Gravina and Luigi Luzi opposed the delay, citing “statute of limitations risks” and emphasizing justice’s interest in “reasonable trial duration.” They warned, “At this pace, we risk exceeding acceptable timelines.” Following a heated exchange between prosecutors and presiding judge Giuseppe Cernuto, the postponement was confirmed.
