Judges in Milan’s Second Criminal Court have deferred until September 16 the trial for accounting fraud involving Minister Daniela Santanchè and others. The adjournment also allows two months to address a defense motion seeking the exclusion of civil parties—minority shareholders of Visibilia—from the proceedings.
Prosecutors Marina Gravina and Luigi Luzi contested the delay, citing “statute of limitations risks” and emphasizing “the justice system’s interest in reasonable trial duration.” They warned, “At this rate, we risk exceeding acceptable timelines.” Following a heated exchange between the prosecutors and presiding judge Giuseppe Cernuto, the postponement was ultimately upheld.
