Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara has signed a decree authorizing the hiring of 48,504 teachers for Italian state schools across all levels for the 2025/2026 academic year. The recruitment drive includes 13,860 specialized support roles for students with disabilities.
A subsequent ministerial decree will formalize the hiring of an additional 6,022 religion teachers following Italy’s first dedicated competition for these positions since 2004.
“By September, we will recruit over 54,000 educators spanning regular, support, and religion teaching roles—a record-breaking number,” stated Minister Valditara. The mass hiring aims to address nationwide staffing needs ahead of the new school term.
