Partner and Mother Confess to Brutal Murder of Italian Man

The partner and mother of 35-year-old Alessandro Venier have confessed to his murder after his dismembered body was discovered in the basement of his home in Gemona del Friuli. ANSA learned from sources authorized by the investigating magistrate that both women admitted responsibility for the killing.

Authorities believe Venier died several days ago. His remains were covered with layers of quicklime, likely to conceal the body and mask the odor. The specific roles each woman played in the crime remain under investigation.

Carabinieri officers discovered the scene this morning, alerted around 10:30 AM by the victim’s partner and mother themselves. An ambulance crew sent by the Sores FVG operations center arrived but immediately confirmed medical intervention was unnecessary. The body had been dismembered, placed in a large bin in the basement, and covered in quicklime.

Investigators swiftly focused suspicion on the partner, a 30-year-old Colombian woman, and the victim’s mother. Both women were taken to the police station. The Carabinieri are conducting the investigation under the coordination of the Udine Prosecutor’s Office.

Venier is survived by a six-month-old daughter, shared with the partner who confessed to the crime alongside his mother. The child has been placed in the care of municipal social services.

The local community is reeling from the brutality of the crime. Neighbors expressed disbelief that the victim’s mother, a well-known nurse described as always helping others, could be involved. Residents urge caution, wanting clarity on each woman’s specific role in the murder and the subsequent concealment and dismemberment of the body.

Earlier, the on-duty magistrate authorized the removal of the remains for transport to the nearest forensic medicine center for autopsy.

Gemona Mayor Roberto Revelant stated, “To my knowledge, nothing like this has ever happened here. It’s an extremely grave, harrowing event. I didn’t know the victim,” he added, “but I was told he often worked abroad. Having never had contact with this family, I don’t know the nature of the relationship between mother and son.” Mayor Revelant concluded, “The couple has a very young baby, just months old, who now needs to rebuild her life. All of Gemona is rallying around her. We are taking care of her through social services with the utmost attention to ensure her safety and a dignified future.”
