Daniela, mother of murder suspect Andrea Sempio, asserted during an appearance on Canale 5’s “Morning News” that her son “could not have left blood footprints in the Poggi house because he did not enter to kill Chiara Poggi.” Her statement addressed forensic claims about “Footprint 33,” which a report commissioned by Alberto Stasi’s lawyers allegedly identifies as containing the 37-year-old suspect’s blood and sweat.
“I came forward voluntarily,” Daniela declared, “because I’m tired of hearing false reports from TV and newspapers.” She challenged the veracity of the legal team’s evidence, stating, “What Stasi’s lawyers claim must be verified. We cannot know whether it’s sweat or blood.” While acknowledging Andrea had visited the Poggi residence previously, she emphasized: “One thing is certain: My son did not leave blood traces there because he wasn’t present to murder Chiara. A sweat mark could be plausible—but why is his print only in one isolated spot and nowhere else?”
Sempio remains under formal investigation in connection with the homicide.
