A 63-year-old woman from Gioia Tauro has been arrested on charges of aggravated murder. Prosecutors in Palmi and investigating Carabinieri allege she killed her live-in partner, Maurizio Ansaloni, in January 2023, after initially making it appear he died of natural causes.
Following a two-and-a-half-year investigation by the Reggio Calabria Provincial Command, authorities secured a pre-trial detention order issued by a judge at the request of Palmi Prosecutor Emanuele Crescenti. The arrest marks a breakthrough in the case.
In-depth technical examinations and witness testimony gathered by the Gioia Tauro Investigative Unit, supported by local station personnel, enabled investigators to reconstruct the murder’s dynamics. Palmi’s Prosecutor and investigators are scheduled to hold a press conference this morning to detail the findings.
