Further Autopsy Required in Death of Milan Woman Erika Ferini Strambi

Additional autopsy examinations are necessary on the body of Erika Ferini Strambi, the 53-year-old woman who vanished overnight between July 5th and 6th and was found dead ten days later in the countryside between Peschiera Borromeo and Pantigliate, near Milan.

Initial examinations of the corpse revealed no evident wounds indicating an assault. However, investigators cannot yet rule out death by strangulation or hardship following an attack that may have rendered her unconscious. A blood-stained rock was reportedly found beside her body. It remains unclear why she was found without her underwear; results of tests to determine if she suffered sexual violence are pending.

According to the ongoing murder investigation coordinated by Milan prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi and conducted by the Carabinieri investigative unit, Erika was reportedly at a karaoke bar in Segrate with friends on the evening of her disappearance before leaving alone towards the area where she was later found dead. The car belonging to the woman, who worked in the human resources department at Luxottica, was discovered in a ditch approximately 200 meters from her body. The car doors were locked, and the keys were inside. Her handbag and mobile phone are missing. Only her crutches, which she required to walk due to severe mobility issues, were found near her body.
