Artiom Naliato, a 21-year-old resident of Veneto, Italy, has died in a bombing at a military training camp in Ukraine, where he volunteered to fight. The Ukrainian-born man was adopted as a child by a family in Tribano, Padua province, local media reported.
Naliato recently returned to his adoptive hometown before departing again for the front lines. His death occurred last Monday. Tribano Mayor Massimo Cavazzana expressed grief on social media, stating: “We stand with the family that lovingly raised him. Tribano loses a son today. His absence leaves a profound void, but we will honor the courage behind his choices.”
Adopted at age 12 and raised in the Paduan community, Naliato had integrated locally but chose to return to Ukraine after locating a brother there. He joined the resistance against Russia’s invasion. Mayor Cavazzana added: “This devastates our community. We mourn with his family, but foremost remember this 21-year-old carried freedom in his heart. His bond with his brother and commitment to Ukraine’s liberation drove his actions.”
