Prince George beams at the camera, showing a mature expression, in a new portrait released by his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, on social media to mark his twelfth birthday.
The eldest child of the heir to the throne and his wife was photographed earlier this year in Norfolk by Josh Shinner, a favoured photographer of the Waleses. Captured outdoors leaning against a fence, the image was shared online. Kensington Palace accompanied the photo with birthday wishes featuring a cake icon. King Charles III and Queen Camilla also sent public birthday greetings via social media.
Prince George is expected to celebrate privately with his family. Second in line to the Windsor throne behind his father, the prince recently attended the Wimbledon men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz with his parents and sister Charlotte (younger brother Louis was absent). Following his grass-court triumph, Italian champion Sinner spoke with the young princes and signed tennis balls for them.
