Demonstrators gathered at Piazza Scala outside Milan’s City Hall demanding the resignation of Mayor Giuseppe Sala’s administration, as Sala prepares to address the City Council following news of his involvement in an urban planning investigation. Approximately thirty protesters displayed banners reading “Resign Sala Council. Public ownership is Milan’s only salvation” and “No to construction bullies. San Siro is common heritage.” The rally, organized by groups including Cambiare Rotta, Potere al Popolo, and Rifondazione Comunista, featured chants of “Sala administration, you must go—resign now!”
Meanwhile, a queue formed outside City Hall as residents sought entry to observe the council session, though limited seating is expected to preclude full attendance. Among those waiting were members of the “Comitato Famiglie sospese” (Suspended Families Committee), homebuyers blocked from occupying properties due to the probe. An overflow room in Palazzo Marino has been arranged to stream the proceedings for excluded attendees.
