A level 2 orange heat alert is in effect today for 11 of Italy’s 27 monitored cities. While orange alerts will decrease tomorrow and on Wednesday, July 23, an extreme-heat red alert is forecast for Campobasso this Wednesday. The warnings were issued in the Health Ministry’s latest heatwave bulletin.
Affected cities today include Ancona, Bari, Campobasso, Catania, Frosinone, Messina, Palermo, Pescara, Reggio Calabria, Rieti, and Rome. On Tuesday, six cities remain under orange alerts: Campobasso, Catania, Latina, Pescara, Reggio Calabria, and Rome. No orange alerts are currently projected for Wednesday, though Campobasso will face a red-level alert.
The orange alert (level 2) signifies weather conditions posing health risks, particularly to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children.
