Residents of San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia province, faced a harrowing night after multiple wildfires erupted near residential areas in the Contrada Costa district shortly after 11 PM. The blazes threatened a large green zone surrounding homes. Authorities implemented precautionary evacuations, relocating approximately 140 residents from 30 households; most found shelter with relatives. The municipal government activated its operational center at Pozzo Cavo to coordinate firefighting efforts. Firefighters battled the flames through the night with support from Canadair water-bombers, personnel from the Regional Agency for Irrigation and Forestry Activities (ARIF), and local police. Numerous citizens also aided containment operations. Municipal officials monitored the situation continuously, which is now reported back under control.
